WHAT DOES FTACC TRAINING COVER?

The published ATACC Group FTACC specification is designed around practical, clinically informed first aid response. The areas commonly covered include:

  • Incident scene safety, approaching casualties and summoning emergency assistance.
  • Primary casualty assessment and monitoring changes in condition.
  • Severe and catastrophic bleeding, including appropriate first-aid bleeding control.
  • Unresponsive casualties, CPR, breathing difficulties and choking.
  • Recognising and responding to medical emergencies such as stroke, seizures, asthma and anaphylaxis.
  • Head and chest injuries, burns, poisoning, and communicating a clear handover to ambulance teams.

WHO IS FTACC SUITABLE FOR?

FTACC is aimed at designated first aiders and emergency responders in workplaces that need occupational first aid training. This can include construction, engineering, industrial workplaces, utilities and other Yorkshire employers whose first aid needs assessment identifies the requirement. It can also suit individuals seeking practical workplace first aid skills with a greater emphasis on trauma recognition.

FTACC COURSE DURATION, REQUALIFICATION & CERTIFICATION

The ATACC Group lists three days (18 hours) for the initial FTACC course and two days (12 hours) for the requalification route, with a three-year validity period for its published programme. FTACC maps to the standard First Aid at Work syllabus. The exact certificate and any regulated qualification route depend on the course and assessment being booked; please confirm this with us in advance.

If your workplace instead needs a one-day emergency first aid route, see FTACC-E training. For more trauma-specific responder training, consider BTACC or RTACC. You can also compare all four programmes.

COMMON QUESTIONS

What does FTACC stand for?

FTACC stands for First Aid, Trauma and Casualty Care. It is the ATACC Group's occupational first aid programme, designed for workplace first aiders and including trauma-response topics.

How long is FTACC training?

The ATACC Group publishes a three-day (18-hour) initial FTACC course and a two-day (12-hour) requalification option. We confirm the duration of your chosen delivery and certification route when you enquire.

Is FTACC equivalent to First Aid at Work?

The published FTACC syllabus meets the First Aid at Work standard. Your employer should check its workplace first aid needs assessment and confirm the exact certificate and awarding route of the booked course.

What is the difference between FTACC, BTACC and RTACC?

FTACC focuses on occupational first aid and trauma awareness. BTACC offers enhanced trauma-response training for higher-risk responders; RTACC develops more advanced rescue and casualty-care skills. Read our Yorkshire trauma training comparison to decide what fits your role.

Is FTACC-E the same course?

No. FTACC-E is the shorter entry-level emergency first aid route, normally one day; the full FTACC course is normally three days initially and follows the First Aid at Work syllabus.

Where can we arrange FTACC training in Yorkshire?

We welcome enquiries at our Thirsk centre and for suitable group sessions elsewhere in Yorkshire and the North East. Contact us on 01845 444300 with your location and delegates to discuss dates and options.
